a wide variety of dog security services as
well as more specialised detection and rapid
response services. Tag K9 were working on a
workgroup basis with local files shared from
PC working as a file server. This had no
passwords or authentication security. There
was no back up facility.
Requirement
Tag K9 requested that a server was installed
onto their network to handle file and print,
email, security and back up services. This
was due to them expanding from 18 guards to
over 100 guards and operating nationwide .
Strategy
The
strategy was as follows;
-
Identify the right kind of server and
components required
-
Build Server with Operating System and
required back up, antivirus and email
server software
-
Reconfigure exiting domain registration
to relay mail to email server
-
Configure local network for DNS, DHCP,
Group Policy
-
Create back up routine as requested by
client
-
Test and troubleshoot all aspects of
architecture
-
Install onto live network
-
Attached PCs to domain and configure for
new features
-
Provide training on new system and
technical assistance if required
Outcome
The implementation was successful due to the
planning and network development work done
prior to installation.
