Project                             : Lotus Notes migration to Exchange 2003

Client                               : Cornhill Interiors Ltd

Engineers involved          : Hiten Patel, Sujit Patel, Luke Tyson

Current Systems

Cornhill Interiors Ltd (CCG) was using Lotus Notes ver.5.0.9 with Lotus Domino ver.5.

Requirement

They wished to move away from Lotus to Exchange for the reasons of more functionality, manageability and growth potential. They also required that the migration was to happen out of office hours so as not to affect the working day.

Strategy

The strategy was as follows;

  • Create test data

  • Re-create live environment for testing purposes

  • Test migration using test data

  • Test migration using real data (away from live environment)

  • Run possible crash scenarios

  • Implement migration into live environment

  • Test migration

  • Handover to client

  • Provide training on new system and technical assistance if required

Outcome

The migration went successfully due extensive testing that was done prior to implementation and all possible scenarios were accounted for. CCG were happy with the migration as it was seamlessly done without any hindrance or downtimes on their services.
